The role of spirituality and chaplains in healthcare

The role of spirituality and chaplains in health care

JOSEPH P. CHACKO AND KATHERINE PIDERMAN

Drs. Paul Mueller, David Plevak and Teresa Rummans found that in their work as physicians, patients often ask existential questions, such as, "Why is this happening to me?" They also found that many of their patients rely on their religion and spirituality to cope with illness.1 In order to help these patients, many Mayo Clinic physicians and other health care providers rely on their chaplain colleagues.

A national public heatlh plan for infertility in India

SATHY M PILLAI

The modern society does not consider economic development alone as the indicator of societal and human progress. Apart from economic growth, education, health, housing & freedom are also sectors of life taken into account as indicators for establishing the societal wellness & development. Thus health is a major factor in the social development index.
Health is defined as physical, mental & social well-being; not merely the absence of disease or disability. It should not only include the presence of cultural and economic well being, but also domestic wellbeing.

Estimation of trace elements in sound and carious enamel of primary teeth by atomic emission spectrometry

FAIZAL C PEEDIKAYIL , SURESH KUMAR V, MALARKODI THANGAVELU

This study was aimed at estimating the concentrations of six elements namely aluminium, barium, copper, manganese, strontium, and zinc in the enamel of deciduous normal and carious teeth and to relate the element concentrations to the sex of the individual by using atomic emission spectrometry. Our results showed that the sound enamel contains more strontium than the carious enamel. Carious enamel contains more of barium, manganese, copper, and zinc than the normal enamel, with zinc and strontium occurring in high concentrations and copper, manganese, and barium occurring in low concentrations in the..

Biomimetic Endodontics: barriers and strategies

JOJO KOTTOOR

Biomaterials used in the medical field lack the ability to integrate with biological systems through a cellular pathway. Conversely, biomimetic materials transcend the regular biomaterial in utility and will suitably perform the functions of the biological molecule that needs to be replaced.
